Can you say "Blah"?
Ten-year-old furniture that is literally falling apart, thanks to the efforts of our children and pets.
I've been meaning to sand and repaint these tables for years.
No color, no contrast. Blah, blah, blah.
Picked up this lovely TV stand at Target two years ago when we got our big screen TV. Seriously, it's only two years old. It has not aged well. And that little tiny stand against that big wall looks even smaller.
We got this dramatic accent chair as a nursery rocker a baby or two ago. It's in here because otherwise we don't have enough seating for all six of us at the same time.
We upgraded our mantel a bit to get the nicer arch and fluted molding, but I really don't like how the stain turned out. It's way too light and transparent, and the grain is such high contrast that you can't even see the details on the molding. All the decorations are kind of what's been left over from our other house. They don't really go together and definitely don't add anything to the room. I have to admit, that tall niche above the mantel is kind of intimidating too. We've been arguing over what to put up there since we moved in. I'd love a nice huge art piece, but they're so expensive, and I'm afraid Andrew and I have different ideas about what we'd like. As in, I offer lots of ideas, and he shoots them all down.
nd that is my sorry excuse for a family room, the biggest and most used room in the house. Something must be done, and done soon! Stay tuned for further developments.
We have the same problem at our house, we argue about what to put up so sometimes I just put stuff up. Where's your new entertainment center I thought you got it? Do you dare sand and re-stain your fireplace? I've seen some cute ones painted online.
ReplyDeleteThat huge wall is so intimidating! I haven't the foggiest idea what I would do with that. Good luck! It's a fun kind of problem to have -- one that encourages lots of creativity, right?
